Two five-week Terra Visiting Professorships in American Art are available through the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art for the academic years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 to a senior academic whose work examines American art and visual culture with a secondary specialization in transcultural context/transatlantic exchanges. The candidate is not required to hold a teaching position in American art history as long as American art, or art and visual culture produced in the United States, constitutes a substantial part of the candidate’s area of specialization and courses taught. The chronological focus of research and teaching can encompass, but is not limited to, 19th and 20th century American art and visual culture.
